Maybe you’ve thought about family photos for a while now, but haven’t pulled the trigger. Can we talk about what’s holding you back?
You wouldn’t be the first mom to think your family’s not well-suited for professional photos. That they’re too disheveled or bonkers—that they’re a troop of howler monkeys, really.
Here’s the deal: This isn’t the Olan Mills of your youth, with everyone in matching floral jumpers, sitting pretty in the studio, smiling woodenly for the camera.
I take a more candid, let-things-unfold-as-they-will approach to photography. Sure, I’ll direct you into all sorts of flattering and adorable poses. But your kids are also welcome to run wild, make faces and show their true colors. Isn’t that what makes them the unique, fiery little spirits that they are?
Okay. Now let’s talk for a minute about you, mama. Here’s something I’ve heard countless times: But I don’t like the way I look in photos!
I’m sympathetic to that—gawd knows, I am. But all the same, I urge you with every fiber of my bod to let. that. go.
Because someday when your babies are grown and have babies of their own, those wee ones will ask, Why aren’t there any photos of grandma? And your grown-ass child will have to explain, Well, son, our sadistic culture convinced millions of women, including your grandmother, that the circumference of their thighs was just too great. Insane, right?
Look, you can flash me the secret sign—a slow blink, two nods and a swipe of the left forearm. Anyone watching will think you’re urging me to steal second, but I’ll know to casually arrange a child in front of your angled waistline, to put you at ease. How many people can be in our photo session?
Your session includes up to 6 members of your family, but you’re welcome to add more for $25/person.
Can I include my pet?
Oh goodness, yes—they’re part of the family! Pets may be included for a $25/critter fee.
What should we wear?
You’ll receive a guide about wardrobe suggestions before the shoot. But generally, layers work well, as do scarves and other interest-adding accessories. Stay away from bright whites and neon colors, as they often don’t photograph well. Your family’s outfits should look good together, but certainly don’t need to match.
How much time should I plan for my family's session?
Plan on spending about an hour together.
Can I get the digital files?
Yes! Your package includes 10 high-resolution digital files that will look gorgeous when printed. You can purchase additional images for $100 per photo, or get the ENTIRE gallery for an additional $500!
How do I access my images?
You’ll receive all your images via a private online gallery where you can download your photos, share them, and even order your prints.
Do I need to print through you, or can I print elsewhere?
For the highest-quality prints, order directly through your private online gallery. There, you’ll have access to a top-notch print lab available only to professional photographers. You can certainly print elsewhere, but I can’t guarantee color fidelity or print quality.
How quickly will I get my photos after our session?
You’ll have your images within 6 weeks of our shoot—and often much sooner. I love sharing sneak peeks on social media right away, so be on the lookout for that!
What if I don't like any of my photos?!
While I’ve never had that happen, I do want you to feel totally confident about booking your session. That’s why you’re covered by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not delighted with your images, we’ll either schedule a re-shoot or I’ll refund your session fee. It’s just that simple.
Okay, so how do I save my photography date with you?
Once we’ve chatted and see that we’re a great fit, I’ll email you a digital contract and invoice. Once you’ve signed the contract and paid a 50% non-refundable retainer, the date is officially YOURS!
